Online Marketing, General Motors, and My Old Job

Author Ryan    Category Uncategorized     Tags ,

Today, Detroit’s Big 3 as they are so called are facing the toughest times of their lives. Asking Congress for a whopping $34 billion dollar loan is no easy task, but coming from General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford… Come on! That being said, I think I need to give a shout to my ex-coworkers at Cobalt who’s jobs and careers lie in the outcome of this decision as well.

As I’m torn between what I believe the government should do, the loss of jobs to hard working individuals is an incredibly horrible outcome. Dealerships are going under, car sales are in the dumps, and people are losing jobs. At the same time, I really think Rick Wagoner needs to take a minute look at where he’s standing and move so that someone else can come in and clean up his mess. Please… get smaller, increase cash, hire competent executives, and find a way to get out of the red. Don’t focus on what you can and can’t do.. do what you have to. Otherwise, you’ve failed as a leader/manager. Your business has already failed.

Sorry for that.

Peace

Time for Video Editing

So as promised, I just wanted to give you a quick updated on where I am at for my Christmas present to my family. After visiting my parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews this last weekend for Thanksgiving, I was able to bring back the old GL1, and some old Christmas tapes. The task at hand.. create the Gudmundson Christmas DVD. It’ll be pretty much just a DVD with old Christmas footage… maybe even some really old stuff depending on if I can get some equipment.. and thats about it. Nothing really too interesting I suppose -_-.

But apparently, everyone thinks that’d be a great Christmas gift so I’m going to do it. Cheap too.. At the same time, it’s making me want to get back into video editing.

When I was doing that crap in high school, I could work for hours on end because I was so into the projects and such. Even though I know I can’t really get into it right now, it is something that could be on the radar. Also.. maybe getting an iMac. I know Andrea would think that is an awesome idea, but I think we’ll just have to wait and see. I know I’ve been a long opponent to Macs in general let alone iMacs.. but for video editing.. I think they are pretty much the best machines out there… minus the G4s and all that crap. We’ll have to see if we can afford it later on down the line. That and Final Cut.

Any ways, I tested some of my captureing capabilities last night and realized I need a FireWire 4 to 6 point converter. It works fine on my Sony, but I think I’m going to try to do everything on Andrea’s computer.. since it’s a MacBook.. easy peasy stuff.

So after work today.. off to get an external hard drive, and some cables. I don’t want to spend anything over 200 bucks though. I might be in for a treat.

Bye.

Post Thanksgiving Update and Stuff

Author Ryan    Category Uncategorized     Tags

Hey there. Sorry for the long delay in whatever it was I was doing for the past week or so. Hopefully you Thanksgiving breaks or vacations were as pleasant as mine. Back to Washington for a few days, hanging out with the family, and thats about it. Glad to be back at work though. I dunno.. I need to feel like I’m accomplishing something for me to feel good. Don’t get me wrong, I love vacations though.. especially to tropical/foreign places. Wanna take me?

Any ways, back to work, I’m almost done with creating my little AdWords Report Dashboard thingy. It’s pretty rough around the edges, but it is about 70% functional which is good. At least it gives me something to show KG. Also being around EL and talking with some of my own family members this last weekend has given me even more ambition to get going on something even better for myself. I still feel really lost though.. and it’s really quite aggravating. No matter. My goal for the next 3 and a half weeks is to keep busy, work hard on creating a name for myself here, and finish the year off strong. Hopefully by January, I’ll be able to make some strides and build some new strategies that will show some good progress in early Q1 ’09. Right now, I think I’m just beginning to bud from where I’m at. I need to find ways to finish everything I’ve set out to do, and get back on track. Once I get in a routine of small successful conversions, I’m golden.. for a while at least.

Back to the grind. I’ll probably talk more about my Xmas gifts in my next posting. It’s gunna be tough I know, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Peace.
